Frequently asked questions
What is Campiri?
Campiri is an online service that connects would-be vanlifers with companies and private owners. We make the process easy, allowing the vehicles to be booked in just a few clicks. Campiri also saves customers the stress and time of searching through individual companies. Our range of vehicles are based all over Czechia, and are completely insured. Select from the widest range of recreational vehicles and trailer campers or let our experts suggest one for you.
I want to offer a campervan for rent
Why rent through Campiri?
One of the main reasons for renting your vehicle with Campiri is undoubtedly the extra income. And by the way, if you don’t have the right rental-specific accident insurance, we’ve got you covered. Campiri makes it easy!
Why rent through Campiri and not directly?
If you lend a campervan to someone and they don’t return it to you, it’s seen as embezzlement and not as theft. This is because you handed them the keys and documents. Esentially, it carries some risk. However, embezzlement is covered in the insurance we offer, keeping your vehicle completely safe.
What are the conditions for listing a vehicle on Campiri?
Any owner with a vehicle that someone can comfortably sleep inside can offer a rental at Campiri. Our service is not only for owners of motorhomes and trailers, but also for modified vans and custom vehicles. We just ask for a thorough and honest description of the condition of the vehicle (as well as valid documents!). We also value cleanliness, a positive approach to renting, and the ability to communicate kindly and willingly with customers.
How much can I rent my vehicle for?
This one is up to you! However, keeping it in the same ballpark as the other vehicles offered is a good start. We’d be happy to advise you on a price if you’d like to get in touch.
Can I still use my vehicle myself?
Absolutely! The idea behind renting your vehicle out with Campiri is only to do so when you’re not using it. It's completely up to you to choose when and for how long you rent it out.
How should I list my vehicle to make it appealing?
We’ll help you with the whole process of listing it on Campiri. In terms of making your listing really jump off the page, here are three tips.
1: Great photos that really highlight the strong points and character of the vehicle are a must.
2: Value. This means having an appropriate price, but also the possibility of a free pick-up or return of the vehicle during the weekend.
3: It’s important to keep the calendar updated so that people know when to rent.
Can I offer a motorhome registered to a company, or on a lease?
Yes! However in both cases, the consent of the owner of the vehicle is required. In the case of a lease, it's the leasing company and they usually have no problem with it.
Does the income I make from renting need to be taxed?
If you are not renting out the vehicle as part of your business, it is essentially seen as “occasional business income”. Now, according to Czech law, if this income exceeds CZK 30,000 per year (a little under €1200 at the time of writing this), it must be taxed on your tax return. If your total occasional income does not exceed CZK 30,000 per year, it does not need to be taxed.
How do I set the rental terms correctly?
The terms and penalties are entirely up to you. However, we have sample terms and conditions that you can use, and we’d be happy to help you modify them for yourself if you’d like.
What if my vehicle is returned late or dirty?
As protection against this, we strongly recommend that you have stated charges in place, included in the terms and conditions. How strict you are depends entirely on you. We have contracts and general terms and conditions which we’d be happy to share with you.
I want to rent a campervan
Where can I rent a vehicle?
At Campiri you’ll find campervans and motorhomes all over Czechia (and very soon, other nearby countries). When searching for your ride, just enter your preferred location and we’ll show you what’s on offer.
What types of campervans do you offer?
At Campiri you’ll find everything from handmade campervans to pre-built motorhomes and trailers. So for example, you’ll find both smaller, intimate campervans for two travelers, all the way up to massive RVs for several passengers. And of course, everything in between! So whether you’re a casual camper or seeking top of the line luxury, we’ve got you covered.
What driving license will I need?
For most of our listed vehicles, you only need a type B driver's license, i.e. for standard cars, as the vast majority of our rentals are below 3.5 metric tonnes. It’s important to know the weight of what you’re driving because with a type B driver's license you can only drive campervans with a total weight of up to 3.5 metric tonnes, including cargo.
Are the campervans insured?
Yes! Every vehicle you see on our website has accident insurance, and you can get the details from the vehicle owner. By having a confirmed agreement between you and the vehicle owner, their insurance also covers you during the period of your rental.
How is accidental damage dealt with?
Every motorhome posted on Campiri must have an accident insurance policy for rentals. If there is minor damage that was the customer’s fault, the customer will pay for the repairs. To compensate for minor damage, a security deposit is paid by the customer to the owner's account before each rental.
What is the difference between renting from a rental company, and renting from a private owner?
In both cases, the vehicle is accident insured. If you rent from a private owner, the vehicle is insured for the duration of the rental. In order to arrange insurance, the details of the customer, who is also the driver, are required. In the case of a company rental vehicle, the insurance is taken out for the whole year and is not linked to a specific person.
What is included in the rental price?
The price of each rental includes breakdown insurance, cleaning of the vehicle before rental, mileage according to the owner's conditions, and usage of the specified equipment in the vehicle.
How the handover of the vehicle takes place
The customer meets the owner at an agreed time and place, where the owner checks the customer's identity and walks the customer through any vehicle-specific details. If necessary, the owner will take a few photos of the vehicle as a record of the condition that it is in. Then they’ll complete a handover report with the customer, and sign the contract. The whole process takes 1 to 2 hours, depending on the individual needs of the owner and customer.
Why do I need to provide documents for verification?
If we ask you to provide documents to verify your identity, it’s because the owner does not have annual breakdown insurance and only ever takes it out for the duration of the loan. Every customer first goes through an identity verification process before taking out a policy. Only then is it possible to book the selected vehicle.
Can I have a one-way rental and return the vehicle to another location?
Currently, only a small fraction of our providers offer this service. If you wish to return the vehicle to a different location to where you picked it up, please contact customer support.
Who can drive the hired vehicle?
- If it’s from a rental company, it depends on their terms and conditions. There is usually no limit to the number of drivers. If it’s a private hire, the policy is always linked to a specific person and therefore a specific driver.
- A security deposit is a refundable security deposit that serves as a guarantee to the owner that you will return the vehicle intact and at the agreed time. In the event of a breach of the loan conditions or of minor damage to the car, the owner has the right to use the security deposit to offset the costs. The amount usually depends on the price of the car and ranges from 15,000 - 30,000 CZK (roughly €600 to €1200).
How much is the security deposit?
- The security deposit is a refundable deposit, giving the owner a guarantee that the vehicle will be returned undamaged and at the agreed time. In the event of a breach in the rental conditions or small damage to the vehicle, the owner has a right to use the security deposit as compensation for the costs incurred.
- The amount usually depends on the value of the vehicle and is usually set between CZK 15,000 - 30,000.
I’ve never driven a campervan before! Is that a problem?
Not at all! Actually, more than half of those interested in renting a campervan are doing it for the first time. Campervans and RVs are essentially just bigger cars. Yes, you need to get used to a slightly different driving style compared to a car, but it's nothing drastic. You’ll get used to it quicker than you think. However, if you do think it’ll be an issue, you can simply choose a smaller campervan.
Can you help me pick a vehicle?

How do I book a campervan?
So we’ve neatly outlined the process here, on our homepage. Honestly, it’s super simple. If the campervan in question is available for immediate booking, you can complete the whole process yourself. All you have to do is choose the date, confirm your booking, and pay the deposit online with a credit card or instant bank transfer. Just remember that it isn’t booked until you’ve paid; our rentals go like hot cakes during the peak season! But if a suitable campervan isn’t available for online booking, do not despair... simply send us a message and we’ll do our best to help you out.
What are the booking conditions?
At the time of booking, we ask for 50% of the total price. We give you 48 hours to complete this, or we release the campervan back into the wild. We then ask for the second 50% paid two weeks before your trip. So if you’re booking a campervan within 14 days, you’ll need to pay the whole fee upfront.
What are the cancellation conditions?
After booking, you’ve got 48 hours to decide if you’d like to go ahead with it, before paying the booking fee. The booking fee is non-refundable once you’ve paid it, so take your time to be sure. Aside from that two day window, we have the following charges: 25% cancellation fee up to 30 days before the start of the rental, 50% from 30 to 14 days before the start of the rental and 100% (the full rental cost) less than 2 weeks before the start of the rental.
What is a brokerage fee?
If you decide to book a campervan with Campiri, 10% of the fee will go to us. This will go towards the usual stuff: site maintenance and paying salaries, for example. And of course, it will fund our mission to you. We want to help you find your dream campervan, and we are on hand to make sure the process is as smooth as humanly possible. Last but not least, you’ll be helping us make the world a better place to live, as we invest 1% of our turnover to support sustainable and green projects.
How serious are you about sustainability and eco-tourism? Really?
Pretty gosh-darn serious! Ultimately, we want to motivate people to choose more sustainable ways to spend their vacation. We give you the option to choose your campervan based on its CO2 output, which is by no means the industry norm. We also invest a fair sum into the creation of educational content and as mentioned elsewhere, we dedicate 1% of our turnover to the development of sustainable projects.
How is invoicing processed?
Campiri acts as an intermediary for the rental of the vehicle from the owner, which can be a rental company or a private owner. Campiri issues you a tax invoice for the services provided exclusively by Campiri, based on the booking contract, which is the arranging of the rental and the arranging of the payment of the rent to the owner, for which Campiri is entitled to an administration fee of 10% of the value of the booking and, where applicable, for other services provided by Campiri (i.e. corresponding to 100% of the rent). Campiri will therefore issue you with a tax invoice for the administration fee and, where applicable, for the cost of other services provided by Campiri.
The rental of the vehicle is based on a separate rental agreement between the prospective renter and the owner, and therefore the owner will issue a tax receipt to the prospective renter for the amount of the rent.
